CHANDLER, Ariz., July 6, 2016 – FlipSwitch, the integrated technology and curriculum platform for online and blended high schools, announced today that it has received a silver award for its Legends of Geomethor game
and video curriculum in the 2016 International Serious Play Awards competition.

The program recognizes outstanding examples of titles that deliver a high quality of engagement and learning opportunities for students, employees or in other education training situations.

Legends of Geomethor is a new compilation of games and animated videos designed for the Geometry A (MA201) course from FlipSwitch. It guides students in learning about the basics of Euclidean geometry as told through the tales of Geomethor, a character from another dimension who must use the powers of geometry to defeat the evil chaos that threatens his planet’s welfare. In the interactive games, students become Geomethor as he tackles the problems inherent in his geometric realities.

“We know that well-designed games and videos can be a compelling way to engage and motivate learners, while at the same time provide effective instruction,” said Maveonien Creamer, Chief Academic Officer at FlipSwitch. “The Serious Play award validates that we are on the right path toward our goal to create a superior high school curriculum that has a high degree of impact on our students.”

StrongMind is the research-based, pedagogically sound and accredited curriculum from FlipSwitch that includes a vast array of multimedia, gaming and interactive elements. This year it has received an SIIA CODiE award for the Best Social Sciences Instructional Solution and five Telly Awards for groundbreaking online education videos.
