K-12 digital curriculum for schools and districts

K–12 digital curriculum for core subjects, electives, honors, and credit recovery designed by curriculum experts and former teachers and built to work with the LMS your school already uses.

What is StrongMind Curriculum?

StrongMind builds K-12 digital curriculum for schools and districts. Core courses span English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies from kindergarten through grade 12, alongside electives, honors, world languages, and online credit recovery for grades 9 to 12. Courses are designed by curriculum experts and former classroom teachers using backward design, then delivered through supported learning management systems or a StrongMind learning environment.

Every grade. Every core subject. One provider.

One provider from kindergarten through graduation, so the learning experience stays consistent as students move from grade to grade.

Multiple ways to move learning forward.

Career Pathways

Courses that point somewhere.

Electives help students explore where an interest could lead. Courses in entrepreneurship, marketing, healthcare, finance, and public services connect learning to real career fields before students have to choose a path.

Who Builds What

Every course in this catalog is StrongMind's own.

Core courses, electives, world languages, and credit recovery are developed by StrongMind’s curriculum team. Need a course that isn’t in the catalog? CoursePro helps your team build it around your own standards, expertise, and voice.

Every StrongMind course starts at the end

Before a lesson is written, the team defines what students need to master and how they’ll demonstrate it. Only then do they build the instructions that get them there.

That’s backward design: every lesson has a purpose, and every part connects back to the outcome.

How a secondary course is shaped

In grades 6 through 12, most semester courses run six units of five lessons. A single lesson carries enough to occupy two or three class days, and a full semester course is designed to deliver around 90 hours of instruction across online work, offline work, and time with the teacher.

Built for the range of students you actually have

StrongMind courses are built with Universal Design for Learning in mind, which means a student gets more than one way to take in an idea, more than one way to work with it, and more than one way to show they understand it.

Here’s what that looks like in practice

  • Media is used with purpose. Video, animation, and interactives are chosen when they make a process, concept, or relationship easier to understand, not to decorate a page. Visuals are paired with the text that explains them, and narration is timed to the animation, so students can focus on learning instead of piecing information together.
  • Vocabulary is explicit. Academic terms are introduced early, defined in language a student can actually use, and linked to a glossary the first time they appear, so help arrives without leaving the lesson.
  • Support fades as confidence grows. Scaffolding is heaviest when a concept is new and lightens as students take it over. That’s the logic behind how every lesson is built.

Scaffolds students can switch on

Vocabulary supports, an embedded dictionary, captions, and ReadSpeaker read-aloud support with audio available in 30 languages. ReadSpeaker translates the spoken audio; on-screen text remains in English.

In the elementary grades, assessment questions and answer options are read aloud throughout, so a student who’s still learning to read isn’t blocked from showing what they know. Elementary courses ship in separate K-2 and 3-5 versions, so the navigation and the way a page is laid out match the age of the student using it.

Built on the science of reading

What happens when the laptop closes

Explore and grow takes elementary learning off-screen with hands-on activities for teachers and families. Activities connect lesson concepts to the real world with step-by-step guidance, options for students who need more support or more challenge, and questions to check understanding.

The activities are optional and ungraded, giving teachers and families another way to extend learning beyond the screen. Hands-on. Optional. Built around everyday materials.

Online credit recovery that moves students forward

StrongMind offers competency-based online credit recovery for grades 9–12 across English, mathematics, science, and social studies. Each unit begins with a pretest. Students who demonstrate mastery move ahead; students who need more instruction work through the unit before continuing.

Mastered content stays available for review, so moving forward doesn’t mean losing access to what came before.

Everything a teacher needs is one click from the course outline

Every course ships with a Teacher Resource Guide, one click from the course outline. Inside it: the syllabus, objectives, one-click printables, the materials list, the project guide, where the teacher-graded items are, and the discussion board rubric. In the elementary grades it also carries the lesson-by-lesson support guide.

Hybrid resources live in the same guide rather than a separate course version. A teacher-directed activity and an independent or group activity for every objective, a hybrid materials list, and one project-based learning unit per semester.

Where an administrator allows it, teachers can adjust scope and sequence, add or remove assignments, pull in content from other courses, link out to their own materials, run their own discussion boards, and post their own announcements and calendar events.

Teachers can also write their own alternate assessments in the same assessment platform the courses are built on.

Our courses come to you

StrongMind courses are delivered as cartridges that load into the learning management system your school already runs. No migration, no second system for your teachers to learn, and no retraining week before school starts. If you would rather not run one at all, the courses also run in StrongMind’s own platform. Rostering flows from your student information system through to your learning platform, and grades flow back the same way, so your SIS stays the record of truth.

Support varies a little by system and by course. Tell us what you run and we will confirm exactly what is available to you before you commit to anything.

What happens after you sign

A handoff call with your Customer Success team and your school leaders, where we map out a success plan together rather than handing you a login and wishing you luck.

Admin training and teacher training as standard, with extra sessions if your school uses StrongMind Central. Training videos and support articles are available any time at success.strongmind.com.

Free back-to-school sessions every fall, open to drop in on, covering things like getting started with your courses and back-to-school best practices. No charge, no minimum.

Schools that add a dedicated Customer Success Manager get a named point of contact and agreed response times, on top of the clear, documented support path every school gets from day one.

Reviewed against an outside standard

Quality Matters

Quality Matters is the independent standard for online course design. It only certifies a course that meets its requirements at 85% or better.

StrongMind’s middle school and high school core catalog, across English, mathematics, science, and social studies, plus Spanish, has been Quality Matters certified since 2022. In the elementary grades, Quality Matters certification is underway across the K-5 catalog, with completion targeted for January 2027.

Certification does practical work beyond the badge. Quality Matters certified courses are A-G eligible. The review also includes a standards-based check that content carries a culturally diverse perspective and is free from bias.

Standards alignment

Alignment is stated by subject rather than as a blanket claim, because that is what is actually true.

High school English and mathematics are built on Common Core. Middle and high school science are built on the Next Generation Science Standards, and the middle school sequence covers NGSS across all three grades rather than inside any one of them. Elementary English language arts is built on Common Core with the science of reading layered over it.

Alignment documentation is available on request for any course, and it works in both directions. It shows you where a standard is taught, which means a teacher looking to reteach a skill can find the exact lessons and activities that cover it rather than guessing.

Who writes it

Core courses are designed by curriculum experts, editors, and former classroom teachers with real field experience in the subject they are writing. The people who wrote your chemistry course taught chemistry. Accuracy, pedagogy, and standards alignment are checked before anything publishes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see the courses before talking to anyone?

Yes. The course catalog and course lists are available to browse before a conversation, and schools can request access to preview the course format and supporting resources.

Do you offer honors courses?

Yes. Honors versions run in English from grade 6 through grade 12, in mathematics from grade 6 through Algebra 2 and Geometry, and in Biology, Chemistry, U.S. History, U.S. Government, and World History.

Do we have to move to a new platform?

In most cases, no. StrongMind courses are delivered as cartridges that load into the learning management system your school already runs, and schools can start with a single course inside the system they have. If you’d rather not run one, the courses also run in StrongMind’s own platform. Support varies a little by system, so tell us what you use, and we’ll confirm.

Are your courses Quality Matters certified?

StrongMind’s middle school and high school core catalog, plus Spanish, has been Quality Matters certified since 2022. Elementary certification is underway, with completion targeted for January 2027. We can tell you the current status of any specific course.

Is your reading curriculum built on the science of reading?

Yes. All six elementary grades of English language arts are built on it. Kindergarten through grade 3 covers the five components explicitly and systematically, and grades 4 and 5 shift to morphological analysis and comprehension by text type.

How much time will students spend on a screen?

It varies by grade and subject. In the elementary grades, online lesson time runs about 30 minutes to an hour per subject, and each part of a lesson takes 10 to 15 minutes, so a lesson can be split across a morning. In K-3 English language arts, online time is designed to fill about half of a typical 90-minute literacy block, with the rest led by the teacher offline. Every elementary core lesson also includes hands-on activities away from the screen.

What does a parent or learning coach have to do?

Oversight rather than instruction. The school’s teacher is the instructional lead and every graded element lives in the online course. Elementary courses give the supporting adult hands-on activities with scripted guidance, a learning coach resource guide, a lesson-by-lesson support guide, and a plain statement of where each role begins and ends.

Do you offer online credit recovery?

Yes. StrongMind’s online credit recovery runs across grades 9-12 in English, math, science, and social studies. The model is competency-based: a pretest opens each unit, and a student who passes it skips content they’ve already mastered.

Do you work with schools our size?

Yes. StrongMind works with single-site charter schools, multi-school networks, and districts, and there is no minimum enrollment. The curriculum and the integrations are the same at any scale.
